As you can see, my web site has undergone another significant change. The final product isn't as good as my "vision" so I'll be sure to tweak things over the next few weeks. The right menu needs some clean-up as far as the CSS styles go. And all sub-pages look pretty atrocious right now. I'll clean it up eventually.
At first glance it may seem that I merely eliminated the left column and replaced it with another entry/post column. Well, that is the case but if you look closer you'll see that the top two entries are "featured" items. These are merely items that I want to highlight for a bit.
When you scroll below these two highlighted (featured) items you'll see two columns. The first is for "recent entries"... IE This one... The second column is for most popular content. Sodoku, River Cross, Obi-wan Cannoli, etc. This section of the site is the part I'm not thrilled about. It's not overly obvious to me that there is a clear distinction between each column. I'm toying with some shading for each of the two columns to see if that will help differentiate them a little better.
You'll find a "category" menu bar beneath the header as well as a brief blurb that no one (except Google) will ever read. The menu has been placed out to the right and contains superfluous information. Nothing much new here. I simply moved all of content from the now-removed left column over to the right for now. I'll trim this down to what is useful.
Why did I bother with the redesign you ask? Well, besides the fact that Movable Type 3.2 requires ALL NEW STYLES AND TEMPLATES I wanted a mechanism whereby I could post even less significant entries than I do now, but not have it over power the "good stuff" like the videos that take time to edit. With this new design normal rants will simply be relegated to the "Recent Entries" section and will not be "Featured". I hope that makes sense.
So, look for me to post much more frequently, but not necessarily better content.
