Brandon Ore - USA Today Player of the Week

Brandon Ore

Virginia Tech running back Branden Ore ran for 203 yards to earn this week's USA TODAY's Player of the Week honor. Ore also scored two touchdowns on his 37 carries as the Hokies cruised to a 24-7 upset of No. 11 Clemson. Ore won the award with the support of the fall balloting and college football editor Erick Smith. Gannett News Service columnist Mike Lopresti sided with Southern California wide receiver Steve Smith.

BeamerBall.com

Bill writes: "On Saturday we won BeamerBall.com's prestigious Most Valuable Tailgate award. Which means we got free beer koozies and a signed Frank Beamer bobble head. Yay!" -- That about sums it up. The page won't be up for long so be sure to check it out!

T-Shirts! Get Your T-Shirts!

Predict College Sports has created two pretty cool T-Shirts for all your die-hard Hoke Fans and UVA-h8rz. I bought a Bud + Foster's = Defense. The UVA Softies shirt is pretty cool although there is a LOT of text on the back. I suppose that's because Colin Cowherd publicly berated the University of Virginia football program so badly. But hey, that's old news... Go buy yourself a T-shirt!

Colin Cowherd / UVA Saga Continues - And WCAV readers agree!

On Tuesday, local Charlottesville CBS affiliate, WCAV continued the saga between Colin Cowherd and UVA with a phone interview. WCAV was kind enough to post the "raw, uncut" clip on their website. Raw and uncut sounds hot, but it's only going to steam Cavalier fans.

What I found most interesting is the Online Poll on the right side of the page.

Was Colin Cowherd justified in his comments about UVA Football fans?

"Yes", "No", and "I don't care" were the three options. You can see by the above image that WCAV readers agree with Mr. Cowherds assertions that "UVA football is the softest bunch of cream-puff bow-tie wearing bree-cheese-eating, Nascar-wearing wussies." and that: "There's not a softer bunch of cookie dough eatin weenies than the UVA football program. Those guys wear make-up to games."

The image from the poll was taken around 3:15 PM EST today.

UVA Ripped A New One By Colin Cowherd

Colin Cowherd of The Herd on ESPN Radio had the following to say yesterday about the UVA Football program...

Listen here
(broken link? try here instead)

Excerpt:
"UVA football is the softest bunch of cream-puff bow-tie wearing bree-cheese-eating, Nascar-wearing wussies I've ever seen in my life. There's not a softer bunch of cookie dough eatin weenies than the UVA football program. Those guys wear make-up to games. That is the biggest bunch of fru fru dacari drinking non-alcoholic beer chuggin weenies I've ever seen in my life. Dude, you want to know the most popular drink at tailgating at UVA football...? Zima!"

It's nice to know that my prior hypothesis about University of Virginia Football is being backed by the experts. Keep reading for more great quotes and a funny exchange between Colin and a UVA fan...

Have a Happy Hokie Holiday

Am I ar-tastic or what? Decorating cookies over the net isn't as much fun as real life. Cookie-time was a big deal growing up. Pulling the kitchen chairs up to the counter to stand on. Although, I can recall hearing "don't do that!" as I squeezed a tube of icing into my mouth.

Bowling Green Buzzer Beater

WARNING: This video may be too painful to watch

Here is a clip of the buzzer beater by Bowling Green over Virginia Tech at the NABC Classic on Saturday. I didn't even know at the game that it was Vassallo that accidentally knocked the ball into the basket to hand the Falcons the win.

The Walk

Here is a video I shot at The Walk before the Miami game last weekend. This clip doesn't show the team very well but shows the thousands of people that were out cheering on our team.

If you know where other video footage or pictures are please email me or leave a comment below. I have a lot more video from the day and plan to post it at some point soon.

Whole Lotta Hokies in College Park

I went up to Maryland Thursday night for the ESPN Primetime game where the Maryland Terrapins hosted my beloved Hokies. The first half certainly had me a bit scared, but as I told an old Maryland fan... "I didn't come all this way to watch the Hokies lose!" Keep reading for more.

A Hokie in the WVU Tailgate

Leave a comment below or email me

On the way into the game my friend Patrick decided it would be a good idea to take a short cut through the WVU tailgate. As you can see in the video, I was the only Hokie around. I have to say that the WVU fans were really quite nice this year. As we walked through they were very excited to have me there and were offering words of encouragement. I did cut the video off before things got more heated. By the time I got through the tailgate section about 50 WVU fans were following me. Check out my gallery for some additional pics from the weekend.

View the WVU Fan response to the "Who needs a Benz when you've got a Beamer" t-shirt (Rod refers to WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez)

ESPN College Gameday at Virginia Tech

Eric & Stephanie (Lunney) came down this weekend for the Georgia Tech football game (and to party). We had an action packed Saturday beginning with a early morning breakfast at our tailgate and ending with a night of post-game celebration downtown. Today is for some much needed R&R. So next week I'm heading up to Morgantown for the West Virginia game with my friend Patrick. Let's hope we don't repeat the 2003 performance (I know we won't!)

Here are some sights & sounds from ESPN Gameday at Virginia Tech this weekend. I posted a quick video clip to show off the crowd and a few panoramas in case you missed the festivities...

Football Season Home Opener

I have to admit that Bill & I didn't begin planning the tailgate until the last minute, so I am happy that it went off without a hitch. I have posted some pics in my personal gallery as well as on Flickr (I can't figure out what I'm doing w/ pictures and the web just yet).

Watching the actual football game was ok. The best part was the team running on the field to Enter Sandman and the fly over.

I can remember that electrifying night a few years ago when George Tech came to Lane Stadium. The game was cancelled due to lightning which was a shame. That stormy night had the makings of a classic.

Section 7 Row Triple-K Seats 21-27

Yesterday I went and selected my seats at Lane Stadium for football. All of the people were very friendly as you come to expect. Aaron went w/ me and helped me choose my seats. They look high but are lower than many of the $1500 Outdoor Club Seats on the West side. I'm ready for the Hokie Football Season to begin!... but I'll have to wait another 115 days!
