Independence Park Philadelphia

Liberty Bell

My family and I went to Philly for my cousin Jocie's and Josh's wedding. We got there a day early so we could enjoy the city. Here's a few pictures I took in Independence Park. I'll post more sometime.

Masquerade

Here is a clip from the 5th Annual Catalano Family Reunion. I'm not sure whose idea it was to have a masquerade, but it sure was fun! I wasn't aware that the event was BYOMask - I'll be ready next year. This video is a bit bigger (2mb / 4mb) but its worth the wait. Enjoy!

This is all I will post from the family reunion on eklektos. Please jump on over to the Catalano website for more family fun.

Memorial Day 2005

Click here to view the photos

My parents pulled together an incredibly fun few days down at the river for Memorial Day. Jenny, Mallard & I had an awesome time. Jenny's sister, her sister's fiance (Jason), mom and Al all came along. Some time (soon?) I'll post part two which will contain some video clips including one of Jason wiping out while tubing behind the boat. The word "gnarly" comes to mind but I'm not sure if that word is still in existence. I got sunburned on my scalp so people are going to think I have really bad dandruff in a few days when I start peeling. It's not very comfortable.

Smelly Cat

Rudy has the "let's get this over with" look on his face but he has to be secretly enjoying all of the attention. How often does he have that many people put their hands on him. You see Rudy is sweet, ornery and stinky. Rudy, what are they feeding you? Maybe I should write (and sing) a song about a smelly dog. I'm taking requests! This is one of the last clips I have to post from Papa's old Sony Mavica camera. The quality is poor as you can see, especially because I double the side of the video. Send me clips! <subtle hint>

Assistant Dog Washer: Hayden Catalano
Smelly Dog: Rudy Catalano
Shot exclusively on location at Mom & Papa's house

Mean Jokes & CHEEZ-ITs

How do mean jokes and cheez-ITs go together? I don't know but they're both in the clip. I think its safe to say that I cannot hold a video camera in my hands without saying "work it, WORK IT!" on camera... err... let's not go there, ok? It's not even clear who I'm telling to "work" because the camera is on Mallard. When editing this clip Mallard left the room to go get into his cage when that part of the clip was played. Poor little fella. Every once in a great while I think I just may tease him too much. If you don't already know the story behind Mallard he was first my cousin Jocie's. She had to move so my brother Matthew took him for his last year at JMU. Once he graduated it was off to the military so Jenny & I were fortunate enough to take him home. I was so happy the day we got to take him home I was sighted w/ something in my eye. I obviously don't recall that.

Mallard has become me & Jenny's little child. He is the most loving creature I've ever known. I am so thankful that Jenny & I have him in our life... <sniff> Darn allergies.

Mysterious Music

Papa, Nina, Katie, or Matthew... do any of you guys recognize this? This WAV file was included with a bunch of multimedia files from Papa but I haven't a clue who wrote/performed/recorded it. Sounds like it was done on Nina's keyboard but I don't know much else. Uncover the mystery!!!

Jenny Enters the Blogosphere

For reasons you may well know I have been blogging more these days. School is right around the corner <arrg> so this activity will likely go back to a trickle. Jenny, making reference to the book "Men are from Mars... yadda yadda", says I have been spending all of my time "in my cave". She's gone as far as to IM me from upstairs to chat. She has been telling me from the onset of my site that she wants one of her own so I finally set it up for her. The style is still the default and she doesn't really know where she's going with it yet but its up and running. Take a look! Jenny even had me make a pop-up version of my video player so she could embed some video. Jenny has posted videos from this past Easter as well as for her grandma's birthday celebration.

Kickin' It

I'm not 100% sure when this video was shot but it must have been after 8:00PM since you can see Jonathan is already asleep on the couch. He couldn't stay up if a million dollars was on the line! Let me apologize now for flipping the ole bird. You can see that I'm quite a bit younger at home "kickin' it" as I used to say. My best friend Chris is shooting me impersonating an Adam Sandler singing performance... although its clear I don't even know the words. Matthew is the star of the poh-no clip.

Jenny has been pleading with me to start playing guitar again. I'm just a beginner and only know the basic chords but I plan to get it out and practice again. I wrote her a song back in 1999. I'll post it at some point but no promises - hear that Jenny!?!

Catalano Talent Spotlight: Nina #1

My sister Nina is far & away the most talented vocalist of us Catalano's. Here's a recording of her singing "Think of Me" from The Phantom of the Opera. Nina lives in Rome with her husband Pier Luigi and her bunny Lily. I miss her lots :-(** I'll post more of Nina's singing when I get my hands on it.

Catalano Talent Spotlight: Matthew #1

This is a song by John Denver performed by my brother Matthew Catalano. The modified image is not from him performing the song but I thought it was appropriate none the less. As you can see I have a very musically inclined family! Even I sang a lifetime ago. Matthew has written and performed songs with his friend Dante. I will post their music when I can get my hands on it.

Please Pass The French Fries

This is a song written/recorded/produced by Charles Catalano.
(AKA: papa, son,brother,cousin,friend).

The song has a folk/John Denver tone to it. My father always said "I hate country music... but I love John Denver's". Keep in mind that most of the US population would consider Denver country. My family grew up on Denver and I passed up an opportunity to see him in concert about two months before he died in a plane crashed. Bummer.

This is the first of much more multimedia to come on Eklektos. Take a listen and let me know what you think! A bio for Charles will come at a latter date as well as many more recordings.
