The New CIO Leader

I have somehow managed my personal time well enough to complete The New CIO Leader by Marianne Broadbent and Ellen Kitzis.

At first I was disappointed with this book, however with further reflection I think it has more to do with the narrow topic I was interested in exploring than the actual contents. I did find a few points that were applicable to me and this book may be good for you too. Continue reading to find out...

Balancing Your Family, Faith & Work

I have completed my book report of Balancing Your Family, Faith & Work by Pat Gelsinger.

Who would I recommend this book to? This is difficult for me to say as I don?t know the extent in which others struggle with this topic. To me this was one of the most significant books I?ve read. Seemingly everyone should read this book, but especially those newly married or soon-to-be-so. Those especially who prioritize work first in their life. The harder working, more determined you are to succeed in the business world ? the more you need to read this book to ensure that you reach your goals and reach the ultimate goal of your place in the eternal kingdom of heaven...

Women Don't Ask

I have completed my bookreport of Women Don't Ask by Babcock and Leschever.

?Women Don?t Ask? is an eye-opening book about the underlying reasons that prevent women from effectively negotiating in the workplace. Babcock and Laschever have clearly spent many years researching this field and do an excellent job of walking the reader through the issues. The authors present solutions and tips to help women however their overall aim is to make changes in social norms for women in society today. These changes will put women on even keel with men in recognition, advancement and monetary compensation...

On Bullshit

I have completed my bookreport of On Bullshit by Harry G. Frankfurt.

The author does bring to the reader's attention the difference between lying and bullshitting and how we as a society are more tolerant to bullshit than to a lie due to the personal intent. He has essentially written a book on bullshit that is filled with nothing but?

Art of War

I have completed my bookreport of Art of War by Sun Tzu.

I am not sure why I bought this book other than to itch a curiosity I have had over its contents. Having read it I am not sure that I can effectively provide commentary. I have provided some quotes from the book I found insightful especially when read with a competitor in mind. This book report is by no means a thorough summary...

E-Myth Revisited

Here is my book report for The E-Myth Revisited:Why Most Small Businesses Don?t Work and What to Do About It by Michael E. Gerber

As the title states, this book is about Small businesses and the lack of an organized foundation on which the company is built. The book uses an interview/story of a woman and her small retail store to illustrate the points in the book. The author goes on to give a good perspective on start-up businesses and provides a systematic approach that is applicable to any business...
