Whole Lotta Hokies in College Park

I went up to Maryland Thursday night for the ESPN Primetime game where the Maryland Terrapins hosted my beloved Hokies. The first half certainly had me a bit scared, but as I told an old Maryland fan... "I didn't come all this way to watch the Hokies lose!" Keep reading for more.

I rode up from Blacksburg to the game with my friends Bill & Beth. We left early Thursday morning so I ended up missing classes (and likely a pop-quiz). We made a few pit stops along the way but were officially tailgating at 4:05 PM.

As I was getting out of the car I look up and who do I see? Joanna Fray! It was one of those "brain does not compute" moments because I wasn't expecting to see her at the game. Joanna and her boyfriend Scott were tailgating over at the Baptist Church lot where we parked with some other Maryland (hic) fans. I was sad, no mad!, to see her wearing Red & Black...

We later moved all the way across campus to meet up with Aaron at the bus lot for more beer and food. Well, not much food, but plenty of beer. Aaron and his friends rented an old converted school bus used for Redskins games. It was pretty sweet - on the outside. I highly recommend the bus lot (XXI). There are even great facilities for using the restroom.

The bus lot tailgate looked like something you would find in Blacksburg. Hokies everywhere. I couldn't get over how much Orange & Maroon I saw up at College Park. Walking across campus I saw more Hokies than I did Terps (but there were of course many more Terps than Hokies in the stadium).

Well, I'm looking forward to a HUGE game against Boston College in just a few days.

GO HOKIES!!!

I was at that game too...it was so much fun...The first half was a nail bitter but they stepped back up to beamer ball after awhile.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed. I watched the game again on Friday when I got home. It was disappointing because it was a nationally televised game. Oh well. Let's hope our team is ready for BC. That's going to be a tough one.
