BeamerBall.com Tailgate of the Week

BeamerBall.com

Bill writes: "On Saturday we won BeamerBall.com's prestigious Most Valuable Tailgate award. Which means we got free beer koozies and a signed Frank Beamer bobble head. Yay!" -- That about sums it up. The page won't be up for long so be sure to check it out!

UVA Ripped A New One By Colin Cowherd

Colin Cowherd of The Herd on ESPN Radio had the following to say yesterday about the UVA Football program...

Listen here
(broken link? try here instead)

Excerpt:
"UVA football is the softest bunch of cream-puff bow-tie wearing bree-cheese-eating, Nascar-wearing wussies I've ever seen in my life. There's not a softer bunch of cookie dough eatin weenies than the UVA football program. Those guys wear make-up to games. That is the biggest bunch of fru fru dacari drinking non-alcoholic beer chuggin weenies I've ever seen in my life. Dude, you want to know the most popular drink at tailgating at UVA football...? Zima!"

It's nice to know that my prior hypothesis about University of Virginia Football is being backed by the experts. Keep reading for more great quotes and a funny exchange between Colin and a UVA fan...

Brandon Ore - USA Today Player of the Week

Brandon Ore

Virginia Tech running back Branden Ore ran for 203 yards to earn this week's USA TODAY's Player of the Week honor. Ore also scored two touchdowns on his 37 carries as the Hokies cruised to a 24-7 upset of No. 11 Clemson. Ore won the award with the support of the fall balloting and college football editor Erick Smith. Gannett News Service columnist Mike Lopresti sided with Southern California wide receiver Steve Smith.

Independence Park Philadelphia

Liberty Bell

My family and I went to Philly for my cousin Jocie's and Josh's wedding. We got there a day early so we could enjoy the city. Here's a few pictures I took in Independence Park. I'll post more sometime.

T-Shirts! Get Your T-Shirts!

Predict College Sports has created two pretty cool T-Shirts for all your die-hard Hoke Fans and UVA-h8rz. I bought a Bud + Foster's = Defense. The UVA Softies shirt is pretty cool although there is a LOT of text on the back. I suppose that's because Colin Cowherd publicly berated the University of Virginia football program so badly. But hey, that's old news... Go buy yourself a T-shirt!

Colin Cowherd / UVA Saga Continues - And WCAV readers agree!

On Tuesday, local Charlottesville CBS affiliate, WCAV continued the saga between Colin Cowherd and UVA with a phone interview. WCAV was kind enough to post the "raw, uncut" clip on their website. Raw and uncut sounds hot, but it's only going to steam Cavalier fans.

What I found most interesting is the Online Poll on the right side of the page.

Was Colin Cowherd justified in his comments about UVA Football fans?

"Yes", "No", and "I don't care" were the three options. You can see by the above image that WCAV readers agree with Mr. Cowherds assertions that "UVA football is the softest bunch of cream-puff bow-tie wearing bree-cheese-eating, Nascar-wearing wussies." and that: "There's not a softer bunch of cookie dough eatin weenies than the UVA football program. Those guys wear make-up to games."

The image from the poll was taken around 3:15 PM EST today.

A Hokie in the WVU Tailgate

Leave a comment below or email me

On the way into the game my friend Patrick decided it would be a good idea to take a short cut through the WVU tailgate. As you can see in the video, I was the only Hokie around. I have to say that the WVU fans were really quite nice this year. As we walked through they were very excited to have me there and were offering words of encouragement. I did cut the video off before things got more heated. By the time I got through the tailgate section about 50 WVU fans were following me. Check out my gallery for some additional pics from the weekend.

Install Movable Type, PHP and MySQL on Windows 2003

I had a lot of trials and tribulation getting Movable Type 3.2 setup using PHP and MySQL on Windows Server 2003. This article spells out all steps required to run Movable Type 3.2 in IIS using MySQL. The article also walks the user through the steps involved in setting up phpMyAdmin to manage MySQL on their server.

Please note that this is for IIS 6.0 and Windows Server 2003. The installation/setup for Windows 2000 server is different and much more backwards (such as moving php.ini and libmysql.dll into C:\windows - yuk!

Sodoku

I discovered this game a few months back and have since plowed countless hours into it. Be careful, if you like crosswords or word scramblers you may get hooked on this one too. I go to WEBSODOKU for all my puzzles. You can solve them online or print them out and take with you on car trips, doctors visits, or while you’re sitting in a boring class.

Directions
At first glance Sodoku looks like a crossword puzzle. The aim of a Sodoku puzzle is to enter a numeral from 1 through 9 in each cell of a 9x9 grid. The primary grid is made up of 3x3 subgrids. A few numbers are given at the start of a Sodoku puzzle and its up to you to figure the rest out. Each row, column and subgrid must contain only one instance of each number. Wikipedia has a good write-up on strategy for solving Sodoku puzzles.

Supposedly this is given as a puzzle during job interviews in Japan but I don't buy that. Thanks Aaron for passing this along. It took me awhile to figure it out but finishing it was satisfying, let me know what you think...

~Only the Adults (mom, dad, policeman) can operate the raft
~Dad can not be in the presence of the girls w/out Mom
~Mom can not be in the presence of the boys w/out Dad

Mean Jokes & CHEEZ-ITs

How do mean jokes and cheez-ITs go together? I don't know but they're both in the clip. I think its safe to say that I cannot hold a video camera in my hands without saying "work it, WORK IT!" on camera... err... let's not go there, ok? It's not even clear who I'm telling to "work" because the camera is on Mallard. When editing this clip Mallard left the room to go get into his cage when that part of the clip was played. Poor little fella. Every once in a great while I think I just may tease him too much. If you don't already know the story behind Mallard he was first my cousin Jocie's. She had to move so my brother Matthew took him for his last year at JMU. Once he graduated it was off to the military so Jenny & I were fortunate enough to take him home. I was so happy the day we got to take him home I was sighted w/ something in my eye. I obviously don't recall that.

Mallard has become me & Jenny's little child. He is the most loving creature I've ever known. I am so thankful that Jenny & I have him in our life... <sniff> Darn allergies.

Obi-Wan Cannoli

Take a look at this video! Thanks Kevin for sending this to me (sorry Ann for this - look close). Obi-wan Cannoli teams up with Cuke Skywalker, Ham Solo, and Chewbroccoli to save Princess Lettuce. All your favorites are there including Darth Tater, C3Peanuts, and TofuD2. Appropriately timed I'd say with the release of Starwars Episode III in about 26 hours (George, I know you're reading... you better not screwed this one up!). With all of this extra time on our hands Aaron & I are going to a matinee on Thursday. I'll let you know how it goes. It looks like this viral marketing piece was created to bring awareness to organic foods. Don't foods by definition have to be organic? (exluding diet sodas of coarse) You tell me.
